Τελικά τι να επιλέξω debian ή FreeBSD;
Εάν όμως μπορώ να έχω και τα δύο ταυτόχρονα δεν θα ήταν καλύτερα;
Φυσικά θα ρωτήσει κάποιος πως είναι δυνατόν;
Η λύση είναι το kfreebsd
Πρακτικά είναι ένα debian σύστημα πάνω από έναν FreeBSD kernel.
Αποφάσισα να του δώσω μία ευκαιρία και για αυτό το δοκίμασα σε ένα VirtualBox. Κατέγραψα την εγκατάσταση του kfreebsd στο παρακάτω link

και το σκέφτομαι πολύ σοβαρά να το εγκαταστήσω

Γιατί τα χαρακτηριστικά της συγκεκριμένης διανομής
δεν μου προσφέρουν απολύτως καμία λειτουργικότητα.
Από την άλλη, ανάμεσα στο dpkg και το rpm, κλίνω προς το dpkg.

Από ότι έχω ακούσει, το freebsd kernel, είναι σαφώς πιο γρήγορο και ασφαλέστερο από το Linux. Είδες καμμία διαφορά στην ταχύτητα;
Θέλω να ξέρω, γιατί ψάχνομαι για minimal power requirements, αλλά γρήγορο server, όπως βλέπεις στα post στο blog μου.
Θέλω να ξέρω εάν αξίζει τον κόπο μια δοκιμή, ή η ταχύτητα είναι παρόμοια με το κλασσικό linux kernal.

tsakf if you want FreeBSD why not “the” FreeBSD itself?
This is not a tongue-in-cheek question, as I respect all the work the kfreebsd team has put into the Debian/BSD releases. It sort of seems logical to make the “leap” to a pure BSD system if you want the best integration of kernel and userland tools, the most compatible combination of the two, and a well documented system.
So really, if you want BSD why not install BSD itself? :)

Well, I’ve thought that many times. Maybe it’s the right answer. The only reason that holds me back, is the availability of packages. I know that, freebsd is robust, and doesn’t have some problems that the Linux kernel has.
Maybe, I’ll give it a try. Now, just gathering information. I’l keep that in mind,
